Where has she gone? Please tell me, where is my friend? It used to be us, but oh, no baby, now it is them It used to be magic - how could it end It used to be us - but now it is them Where is my love? Please, tell me, where can she be? It used to be us, but oh, no baby, now she is free It used to be special - take it from me It used to be us - but now she is free CHORUS: I’m takin’ a rain check on romance Waiting for the skies to clear I’m takin’ a rain check on romance Waiting for a change in the atmosphere What can it mean? Please tell me, what have I done? It used to be us, but oh, no baby, now she is gone It used to be precious - It used to be fun It used to be us - but now she’s on the run CHORUS: Where did she go? Please tell me, what can I do? It used to be us, but oh, no baby now that’s not true It used to be magic - It used to be right It used to be us - but now she’s in flight CHORUS:

Love ain’t enough - you got to give more Love ain’t enough - rest assured It takes compassion, respect & freedom from neglect It takes forgiveness and trust to keep away the rust - Love ain’t enough Love ain’t enough - you got to reach higher Love ain’t enough - to keep the fire It takes involvement and care or things will go nowhere It takes patience and time to make the perfect rhyme - Love ain’t enough We sit here starin at four walls in a trance We dug our heels in, now we’ve taken our stance Open up, honey, won’t you let me in Let’s meet half way, and maybe then we can begin Love ain’t enough - you’ve got to hear me out Love ain’t enough - to be free from doubt It takes mutual concern to stop the crash and burn It takes a little sacrifice to chip away the ice - Love ain’t enough We both have our own excuses ready made We built a wall between us, and we start to fade Open up, honey, my heart’s an open book Let’s meet half way and maybe take another look

You hide in the darkness for as long as you can ‘till the day you’re forced to play your hand You crouch in the corner cowering on your knees ‘till the time that someone hears your pleas Then you won’t have to wait Time to seal your fate Yea, it’s time to admit, time to face up to it CHORUS: I wanna be there when the moment of truth arrives at your doorstep I wanna reach out and smash all your doubt before you take any more steps I’d like to assist so that you will not miss your appointment with destiny The moment of truth will come eventually You hide in the deepening shadows of night ‘till the first signs of the morning light You sleep in fear that you’ll dream of lost love and emotions that you can’t rise above But the night soon will pass and it’s morning at last Yea, it’s time to rely on your feelings to fly CHORUS: ---- solo ---- Then you won’t have to wait time to seal your fate yea, it’s time to rely on your feelings to fly CHORUS:

Arc of Life 04:51
You’re born at the beginning And you die in the end Your time will soon be over But you’ll be back again You watch as all your loved ones Take the path with you Gray hairs and age lines Relentlessly pursue CHORUS: Like a rainbow painting the sky You live until you die Each and every morning The arc of life is forming Look out at your horizons Decide who you will be Make decisions, good and bad As you write your history You pay for your mistakes And enjoy your just rewards You try to take from life Only things you can afford CHORUS: But sometimes you go walking Down temptation’s lonely road And you end up overspending Your share of the mother lode You’re born at the beginning And you die in the end Your time will soon be over But you’ll be back again Then suddenly your loved ones Start to leave this earth It forces you to look at things For what they’re truly worth

Harry's Song 05:13
Harry was a man who loved his wife He loved his kids and his work, and life was good He provided for his family their daily bread And he fit like a glove into the neighborhood Until one day the boss man came And said “Hey Harry it’s a cryin’ shame” The workload has slowed considerably And we gotta cut around the edges of the budget tree Poor Harry got the axe and fell between the cracks Harry went home and he told his wife But she didn’t understand, “It’s not fair, you worked so hard” He never missed a day in 21 years Now he sits alone and scared in his backyard He stood long in the unemployment line ‘till that dried up with no jobs to find He looked and he looked ‘til his shoes wore through Until his well ran dry, and all the bills were due Poor Harry faced the facts and fell between the cracks BRIDGE: He was runnin’ in the race Until he got smacked in the face They put him in his place with one fatal blow He was racin’ with the clock Tried to run, but they wouldn’t let him walk Then they threw him another block, and they laid him low Harry was never a religious man But he started to pray when hope began to wither away His self respect became a nervous wreck And this confident man now had nothing to say He tried to stay on top of things But he just couldn’t fly, ‘cause he lost his wings Every day was harder than the one gone by No matter how he tried, he couldn’t look you in the eye Poor Harry melted like wax and fell between the cracks BRIDGE: Harry was a man who did his best To make the most of life, the life that was given him It was always said that he would get ahead Because he had the makings of a model citizen But there’s nothing’ left to say, nothing’ left to do So Harry hit the bars and had a drink or two And he told himself what he already knew That the dream was over and his middle class life was through

Tavern Town 05:11
Living every day with storm clouds in my head Darkness fills the sky above the living dead This town is a dive with every corner bar Drink yourself to sleep and forget who you are CHORUS: Still I linger ‘round in this tavern town Still the sun goes down upon this tavern town It was just another day With nothing’ good to say And the light fades away from tavern town People meet in bars, there’s nowhere else to go Maybe find someone you don’t really want to know This town is a bore with every living breath Drink another draft, and laugh yourself to death CHORUS: People go to work, make their daily wage At night they watch TV, hide their silent rage This town is a bomb ready to explode The barrooms heed the call down every lonely road

World still goes on Spinnin’ round, movin’ faster We’re caught in a rush In a pace we can’t master People burnin’ out, turnin’ out useless worry They’re runnin’ away from today, always in a hurry CHORUS: Too many livin’ too many tomorrows They don’t have enough of today Too many livin’ too many tomorrows They let precious time slip away Crowd still goes on Making deals, selling, buying They’re all in a rush To do all before dying People run the race, keep the pace, but they’re still losin’ They’re runnin’ away from today without ever choosin’ CHORUS:

Prayer 04:05
When two minds have come together and the feeling is just right When the darkness leaves forever and the dawn brings a new light When the truth becomes the savior and we walk away from lies And we see ourselves for who we are and lay down our disguise CHORUS: Then I will stop my dreamin, take away my fears I will end my anger, I will dry up all my tears When the poor can share the bounty and all are strong and free When the deaf can hear the glorious sound and blind men start to see When men lay down their weapons and take away the fear and we turn our backs on prejudice and watch it disappear CHORUS: Mother earth, don’t you cry We will wake up in the by and by One day, we’ll somehow see the light We’ll finally find a way to set things right When hate has been forsaken and the words of love resound When sleeping minds awaken and answers then are found When love has been begotten and enemies become friends When war has been forgotten and peace has come again
10.
The rhythm will remember Where the downbeat lies Soon we’ll see the clearing of the darkening skies The rhythm will remember How the song began Listen to the drummer and stick to the plan The sirens will be sounding Warnings will be clear But follow on the backbeat You’ll blow away the fear Oh, oh the rhythm will remember The rhythm will remember The beat of the pounding drum We’ll wake up from our slumber and come down on the one The singers will be singing All the notes on pitch The souls will be ignited The poor will now be rich Oh, oh the rhythm will remember Pray ------ for a better day Pray ------ for a better day

about

This was my first solo album. I went for years putting it off even though my head was filled with ideas. Finally, I started work on it as the new century came. With help from some of mu favorite local musicians, plus the engineering genius of Roger Lavallee, I was able to get it done. Roger called it a 'masterpiece'.
